My bird's pellets turn to dust. How much to feed for weight loss?

It is hard to say, judging by the pictures alone, how much weight your bird has gained. I would recommend getting a gram scale so you can weigh her at least weekly to monitor her weight. The best thing you can do to keep her healthy is to offer her a high-quality pelleted bird food like Harrison‘s or Zupreme. Give her a small amount of fresh fruits and veggies, about 10% of her diet, and very few seeds/nuts. These offer a little nutritional value, have lots of fat and calories, and can cause issues with the liver later in life. I hope this helps. Since she is young, consider transitioning her to a commercial pelleted diet such as Harrison's, Lafeber, Pretty Bird or KayTee Exact. You can still supplement with a bit of a fortified seed mix and fresh vegetables and fruits. Moisten pellets with warm water to make a mash and offer to Luna daily. Mix the pellets into her food and gradually increase the amount over a week or two until she is eating mainly pellets.

Most budgies will do fine with about 10 grams, or 2 teaspoons, of a pelleted diet daily. This is in addition to a small amount of a fortified seed mix and fresh fruits and vegetables. First of all don't do it right away, wait at least a couple months and let her settle in her new place. then you can start to gradually switch her to pellets. you should do it within about 10 days. first day start with 10% pellets and 90% seeds, second day 20% pellets and so on until it's only pellets.

Pet birds are usually overweight compared to their wild cousins. If Maggie has lost considerable weight recently, then I would first want to look for signs of disease. For this, you'll need to take Maggie to an avian vet, so they can discover the problem. Otherwise, no amount of feeding will make her gain weight. Hello. Pedro should be eating 70% compete pelleted food like ZuPreem or Roudybush. A high quality seed mix or nitro berries worth fresh vegetables can make up the remainder of the diet. A diet of only millet with some greens and herbs is deficient in many important nutrients (protein, vitamin A, etc).
