My bird has something in one nostril. Is it an infection or injury?

Ouch! It looks like there may be a fungal infection or growth of some sort that is blocking the nostrils. If current medications haven't helped, another trip to the vet to have a sample taken and sent to a lab for testing, as well as having your vet flush out the nostrils may make it easier for John to breathe and help get him feeling better. In the meantime, keeping the nose as clean and free of debris as you can at home may make it easier for him to breathe.

The amount of discharge stated is concerning. The symptoms described may indicate infection or respiratory disease. To be safe, Piper should be examined by your veterinarian or an experienced avian vet. Xrays and a culture of the discharge may be indicated to diagnose illness or infection.

The pictures are pretty good. Doremon seems to have a lesion over the right eye, but also near the left nostril and cere. It appears to be a trauma. Not sure if he could have fallen off the perch or injured himself otherwise. If he is still eating and active, i think you have time to monitor the situation. You might want to contact the seller to let them know. If the lesion continues to progress or Doremon stops eating or becomes lethargic, I would seek input from an avian veterinarian.

Oh goodness. Poor little Guy. Unfortunately the pictures are too blurry to really visualize the lesion. I would worry about infection or possible self trauma. Is he rubbing his beak on anything in the cage? Is there crust or discharge from the nostril? If so then he may have an upper respiratory infection and should be seen my an avian veterinarian to develop a treatment plans. I hope he improves quickly .

Thanks for reaching out about Hadi and including photos. There appears to be a wound lateral to the nostril. Could she have flown into something and hurt her head? The other possibility is self trauma due to a sinus infection which could be bacterial or fungal. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Not sure what you are referring to by "something up her nose", but they do have a piece of flesh called the operculum, within the nare. Exposure to a steamy bathroom for 10-15 minutes could moisturize the sinus passages. Good luck.

Thanks for reaching out about Coco and including a photo. If the nose if persistently wet, that could be an indication of an upper respiratory tract infection. Sometimes, if birds have a full crop of water, and fall forward, the water can come out the nose, but this is usually a one time thing. If acting ill, a veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Good luck.

I do not see anything wrong with him in these photos. That does not mean that everything is fine. He may have something going on internally. I just suggest you monitor him closely for the next few hours. If he is fine during that time then he will likely be OK. If you notice any abnormal behavior you should have him examined by an avian veterinarian.
