My bird has a discolored beak. Should I separate it from its mate?

I'm looking on how to treat a discolored beak and if I should or should not separate the bird from its mate.

If she isn't being bullied, they can stay together. Make sure the spot isn't a smudge or dried food. Have your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating birds evaluate the discoloration to diagnose infection or injury. Treat as indicated. The specific treatment will depend on the cause of the discoloration.
