Baby parrot mouth breathing, amoxicillin not helping. What's wrong?

Antibiotic treatment may be the right choice considering that a possible cause of the signs you described might be an upper respiratory tract infection. In addition I would recommend having her checked if the antibiotic treatment is not sorting any effect in 7 days time as another type of infection could be present (Chlamydia for example).

I would have expect it to get better on these antibiotics, in that case there is a very good chance that it's a fungal infection rather than a bacterial infection, you need to take her back to the vet ASAP and ask him to try an anti fungal treatment.

Not all antibiotics work on all bacteria. Were any cultures performed? Short 10-15 minute bouts in the steamy bathroom might relieve some congestion. Diet should be reviewed to provide adequate vitamin A. Ensure that Sunny is away from the kitchen, especially when cooking or other aerosols or aromatic sources. If the sneezing does not clear, diagnostic tests should be performed to determine a cause. Good luck.

I am so sorry that Marble is feeling so unwell. Unfortunately with the clinical signs of respiratory distress, open mouth breathing and laboured breathing I would have to advise you take Marble to the veterinarian straight away. Thanks for reaching out and including a photo. No antibiotic will treat all bacterial infections. Not all respiratory problems are bacterial, let alone infectious. There are several viral diseases possible, and many non-infectious problems. Inhaled toxins or foreign bodies can cause respiratory problems. An enlarged liver, spleen or other internal organs can not allow chickens to take a deep breathe. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Is the abdomen distended? Ascites (fluid accumulation) can be due to liver, kidney, ovarian and other problems. Draining the fluid (through a veterinary visit) can relieve symptoms but is probably not a cure. Good luck.
