My baby African Grey's feathers are fluffed. Is it sick?

Providing heat support can give some aid but is not a cure for illness. As a new bird, moving to a new home can be stressful for a young animal, and suppressing the immune system, allowing subclinical infections to manifest. Good luck.

Providing heat support in the 80-85 F range can give some aid. Remove perches and give a soft towel on which to rest. Try offering water and a liquid food through a syringe for calories and hydrate. Being ill can have multiple causes such as infections (bacterial, fungal), metabolic disorders (liver, kidney), heart problems, nutritional deficiencies and more. If the feather fluffing is only at night and the second bird is otherwise healthy, eating, and active I would not be too concerned, and adding a cage cover at night to keep the birds warm may help. However if it is fluffed up all the time, eating less, or showing other signs of illness, then I would schedule a vet visit and move the affected bird to a warm hospital cage to help it rest and rule out any more serious issues. The cage you have for both birds is also extremely small, so I would recommend placing them in a much larger cage that they can easily move around and stretch it and with some added toys to prevent stress and boredom.

If he’s eating and acting fine, evaluate the temperature in the room and presence of any drafts. If he is quieter, or has any change in appetite, defecation or activity, see a veterinarian without delay as birds can become seriously ill quickly. Regardless, I would recommend taki Tiki to a veterinarian for a new pet exam. This will establish a relationship with a local vet, create a baseline of health data for Tiki, and give you the opportunity to ask any ther questions you may have about Tiki and his care. Providing heat support in the 85-90 F as an incubator can give some comfort, but is not a substitute for a treatment. Offering water via a small syringe can help maintain hydration. Baby birds can lose feathers in what looks like a molt as their adult feathers come in. If she is molting, you will see new feathers, called pin feathers, sticking out of the skin (they look like little needles). If she is otherwise healthy and active and on a balanced diet I wouldn't be too concerned, however you did mention she is a bit lethargic. If she is losing feathers and isn't growing in new ones, and remains lethargic or begins to decrease her eating/drinking habits, have changes in stool, etc, then seeking out an exam in person is best to rule out any issues such as parasites, illness, nutrient issues, etc that could be causing her symptoms. Keeping her eating and drinking, warm, and away from any other birds that may pick on her if she is ill can also help until you can get to a vet.
