Why is my rooster sad, not crowing, and has green watery poop?

My rooster looks sad and just sits around or stands up with his eyes closed. He isn't scratching around for food, but he does eat and drink water when I offer him some. He hasn't mated or crowed for 2 days now. His droppings have been like neon green, and recently he's been dropping watery white poop. Please help

Separate him from the flock for now. Keep him warm and offer pellets mixed with warm water to make a mash or paste. A vitamin supplement for poultry would also be recommended.
Submit a stool sample to your veterinarian to diagnose intestinal parasites or bacterial/fungal overgrowth.
If Andy doesn't improve within the next 24 hours, have him physically examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating domestic fowl.

These clinical signs could also indicate a yeast or fungal infection with Candidiasis albicans (thrush). This is sometimes referred to as sour crop. Your veterinarian will be able to test your rooster to determine if this is a fungal or a yeast infection and prescribe appropriate treatment.

Unfortunately, this is an issue that requires veterinary care to treat. If your rooster is sick to the point of fainting/gasping for air, that is considered a medical emergency that requires treatment in person. Antibiotics/antifungals, cleaning out the crop, etc are needed to get him feeling better.

You can try to clear sour crop at home by separating him from the flock, withholding food for a few hours, giving water and trying to massage out any obstructions, however since he is already to the point where he is losing consciousness and has white fluid coming from him, he needs to be seen by a vet, even if they are a bird-specific vet, ASAP.

It is possible there is a bacterial or fungal infection going on that may be causing the symptoms you are seeing and require antibiotic or anti-fungal treatment. Making sure the coop is kept clean and the hens aren't laying in their own droppings can also help keep their bottoms clean if there is no underlying illness. You can also bathe any affected hens to help clean up their bottoms and provide some relief from the irritation. If you have a hen that is acting very ill, I would remove her from the flock and place her into a hospital cage with easy access to food and water until you can be seen by a vet. Separating any other sick birds is also a good idea if you suspect something infectious to keep your remaining hens safe and healthy.

Poor Domino! It sounds like she may be experiencing some issue such as an infection or illness, especially if she is listless or having strange colored stool. It would be best to remove her from the flock and place her into a hospital enclosure that is kept warm and with easy access to food and water. Since her symptoms are also very vague, it is also a good idea to see if there is a vet near you that will take a look at her so they can determine the cause of her symptoms and provide treatment as needed such as fluids or antibiotics.

He needs to be seen by a veterinarian if he is ill. Providing a warm environment, simulating a warm incubator, could give aid, but a veterinary visit is warranted. Without knowing what the clinical signs are for the illness, can not give any other advice. Good luck.

Thanks for reaching out about Susi and including photos. Other diseases can cause greenish stool, anything that affects liver function. AS you probably know, psittacosis is zoonotic. Veterinarians can sometimes have access to injectable doxycycline, since won't take orally. Gavage feeding the medications and food could also be beneficial and a veterinarian can assist with the technique. You might have to travel further is an avian veterinarian is not in your vicinity, as this bird sounds critical. Good luck.

Not pooping since not eating well. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a treatment plan. Providing healthy foods will not likely fix this but is a good long term goal. Giving a warm environment to recovery, 80-85 F range can give some support but is not a treatment. good luck.
