As a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist, I am a specialist in the treatment of serious eye diseases, using both medications and advanced surgical techniques to help my patients. I routinely treat multiple species, including dogs, cats, and horses. I especially enjoy educating my staff and referring veterinarians in the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases. I really enjoy the team approach to improving the animal’s health and longevity, as ultimately it is a group effort involving the family veterinarian, the specialist, and the patient’s family.
Prior to my current role as a staff clinician in a large ophthalmology referral practice, I was an assistant professor at Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. I enjoyed supervising students and ophthalmology residents, as well as performing research. I participated in a unique project in conjunction with faculty from the Department of Chemical Engineering involving using contact lenses impregnated with medications as a method of treatment for eye diseases.
Prior to my ophthalmology residency, I practiced small animal medicine and surgery in a busy practice in South Alabama. When not caring for my patients, I enjoy spending time with family, including my husband and daughters.
