Is pumpkin good for cats? What are its health benefits and dosage?
Hello there and thank you for using Pet Coach! Pumpkin is a great additive as it does have several benefits. While I do not think it must be a staple in the diet, it is a healthy additive. Pumpkin can aid in controlling weight, digestive health and even has shown some urinary health benefits. Many of the higher quality foods will include pumpkin in their diets. If you are planning on feeding this to the cats, it should not be a problem. I would give 1/2 - 1 tsp daily for the average sized cat. I hope this helps! Can my hyperthyroid cat on Y/D diet have pumpkin for upset stomach?
No. I don’t recommend to give her pumpkin as it may effect her Y/D diet. I recommend to call her veterinarian for treatment options. Probiotics can help some of these kitties. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.

What, how, and when should I feed my obese cat for weight loss?
I recommend feeding an all meat canned or wet diet with added canned plain pumpkin. Cats do not do well with carbohydrates so feeding only meat will help Pumpkin lose weight. The canned pumpkin will help fill her up and add fiber and bulk up the stool to prevent constipation. Increasing her exercise also will help. You can feed her up on the dryer or a table so she has to jump up, and having her increase her activity chasing toys or a laser pointer will help also. My cat's ears and head are scaly, itchy, and losing hair. What to do?
Pumpkin may be suffering from a mite infection, allergies or a bacterial or fungal infection. All of these need veterinary care and each is treated differently from the other. Your vet can easily determine which condition it is by clinical exam and/or a skin scrape. Mites are easily treated with an injectable acaricide, a bacterial infection needs antibiotics, fungal infections is treated with a fungicide and allergies with these signs usually point to food allergies, treatable by avoiding the allergenic food and feed a specific hypoallergenic diet. Please take Pumpkin to a vet soon. Mite and fungal infections are also contagious to people. and other pets.
