Hi, and thank you for this question. If jim was not hand fed as a baby, he will likely never be truly tame. If you feed him pellets rather tnan seeds as his main diet, then things like sunflower seeds can become very effective treats.
Thanks for reaching out. Are these birds becoming more mature, therefore hierachy changing, or competition over food, perches, territory? The daily diet should consist of some seed but also fresh vegetables (all), a protein source such as cooked beans/tofu, therefore treats can be fruit (dried, fresh). Good luck.
Happy birthday, Peko! I'm not entirely sure what smackers and petsile fruits are, but they look to be some sort of seed treat made especially for birds, so it should be OK to give. If you'd like to give the birds a special treat, some veggies such as salad greens, berries, fruits like a little apple or pear, etc can all be given as a fun snack as an alternate option. Other items such as spray millet are another fun treat most budgies enjoy. Make sure you are giving any treats in moderation and still feeding their regular diet to ensure they stay healthy and do not have any GI upset.
You're welcome! I'm not entirely sure what brands are offered in India, but [here are some good foods](https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/category/bird/bird-food-and-treats/bird-food/parrot-hookbill-food) from our store that can give you a template of what kind of food to feed Meenu. Any formula for parrots or hookbills should be appropriate for conures. Most pet stores will carry something similar, so if you have one nearby you can use this list to shop for similar ingredients. Adding in some fresh fruits and veggies as snacks and treats can also help round out Meenu's diet and make things more exciting for her!
If your girlfriend knows what their favorite treats are, stock up on it! You'll want to begin slowly, and if at anytime the birds become stressed, take a break and let everyone relax. You can start by just offering them the treat by tossing it to them or their cage, until they are comfortable with you around. From there, you can work on offering a treat by hand, or letting them sit on your hand (most birds will bite if they come up on your shoulder and aren't used to you, so keeping them on your hand can help everyone feel comfortable!). As they get used to you, continuing to offer treats and just interacting with them can help you to bond. If they become stressed, bite, hiss, etc, placing them back in their cage and giving them a break, and then returning back to the previous step they were comfortable with is best.
