My dog seems to get nervous when there are a lot of people around. Thursday being Thanksgiving we will be having family over and I want to know what I can give her to help calm her down.
Poor pup! You can try a DAP pheromone collar along with a natural calming supplement like Zylkene or Composure if you wish - these are very safe and can be purchased over the counter without a prescription. If you think that she may need something stronger, I would recommend talking with your regular vet about whether she might benefit from prescription anti-anxiety medication, such as alprazolam or trazodone.

Yes there are some over the counter products you can try such as the thunder shirt or an Adaptil collar or diffuser. However if you want something that will work without fail I would try Alprazolam or Valium but these require a prescription through your vet so schedule an appt soon. My dog is going through a food trial for allergies. They are thinking it might be a chicken allergy but are not sure yet, and it could be more than one. She is a year old. She is eating signature kangaroo food right now and seeing if that helps.
The key to doing treats while a dog is on an elimination diet is to use treats that have the same ingredients as the food you are trying. Sometimes the easiest way to do this is to use canned food of the variety and flavor that you are using to put in a Kong or bake into treats. Other options would be to use sweet potato chews if the food you are feeding has sweet potatoes in it (which Zignature kangaroo does not) or giving dehydrated chews that are the same meat source that you are feeding (which will be a challenge for a kangaroo food). So, for the food you are feeding right now, the best option may be to use canned Zignature kangaroo to create treats for Lucy. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach. If Sherlock is fearful and aggressive towards strangers, it is going to be too difficult to train him before the holidays as training takes time. If you are going to have people over then I would keep him in a separate room or a crate. I would also recommend using a product called NaturVet Quiet Moments with Melatonin for dogs.
