Wellness, Weruva and Royal Canin are all good choices. When it comes to a canned food, look for one with a named protein source of animal (not plant) origin. Choose a food that comes from the can looking like a hockey puck. Avoid foods with gravies or sauces. These are typically higher in carbs which can predispose a cat to obesity. Avoid meat meals, by-products as well as store or discount brands. These latter two contain low quality ingredients and more fillers.

Is Fresh Pet cat food a good choice for my cat instead of dry kibble?

Hello. Personally, I really like Fresh Pet. Many pets will eat this when they will not touch anything else, & a lot of veterinarians are recommending that cats eat a primarily wet diet vs a dry kibble. My cat won't eat wet food. Is freeze-dried safe to feed her?

Try giving her another brand of wet food, such as Fancy Feast, or warm up her regular wet food. Freeze Dried is not wet food and I would be concerned about bacterial contamination. You may also want to have her teeth and mouth checked by your veterinarian.

Is freeze-dried lamb cat food safe and nutritionally sound for my cat?

The procedure of freeze drying is safe, but not necessary or any better for a cat food. My first question would be whether it's nutritionally adequate. In order for a food to be nutritionally adequate it must have gone through a diet trial, or was formulated based on know nutritional requirements. In order to find this out, you will have to research the food a little more. Different countries will have different or no requirements for the company to show that the food is nutritionally adequate. Should I switch my dog and cat from Hill's Science Diet to Wellness?

In my opinion, Wellness is not as good a food as Hill's Science Diet and I agree with the recommendation of your vet's office to keep your dog and cat on Hill's. Hill's has better ingredients and is overall a better quality food. In addition, the truth is that grain free food is really a fad. Only about 5% of dogs have food allergies, and of these dogs, the major of the food allergies are protein. Grain allergies are actually extremely rare, and I only recommend feeding a pet a grain free food if they have a diagnosed grain allergy. I personally recommend keeping your pets on Hill's.
