If he is licking at it, use an Elizabethan collar (cone) or apply a light bandage. use caution when applying bandages though. if you make it too tight, you may cause more harm than good. Restrict Bruno's activity to just short leash walks for elimination. Avoid excessive running, jumping or rough play until he is feeling better.

I suggest you get this wound spray to apply 3-4 times a to it. If he is licking it you will need to put a cone collar on him until it is mostly healed. If he licks it, it will either not heal or it will take a very long time to heal. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I would prevent licking with an E-collar or bandage. Licking can worsen infection or prevent healing. If the wound is deep I recommend having your Vet take a look to be sure Cadbury doesn’t need stitches or antiobiotics. You can always post a picture for us to view. If you bandage it, change it daily to every other dy and use a triple antibiotic ointment. I hope this helps!

Hi there. Not sure how the wound occurred but it is definitely a wound! I would not be too worried just yet. It does not look infected. I would suggest you put some topical Neosporin or other triple antibiotic ointment on it and keep it covered with a telfa pad (no stick pad) and a thin layer of vet wrap: https://www.walmart.com/search/?query=telfa&cat_id=0 https://www.walmart.com/ip/No-Hurt-Wrap-Tan-1-Inch-X-2-2-Yard-Stretched-Sticks-to-itself-not-to-skin-or-hair-By-Nexcare/839269982 You can use DILUTE peroxide (1:1) to clean it but only use it once! If you keep using peroxide every day it will delay healing. Hope this helps. If you have more questions feel free to post again! Take care!

You can use both. A thin layer of iodine ointment will serve to help prevent infection. The Woun’ dres can be applied over it. If Caesar is likely to lick it, I recommend an e-collar. He may chew and eat a bandage if he isn’t wearing an e-collar. Bandages are also tricky because they can trap moisture and can tighten, cutting off circulation to the paw. I would continue applying both three times a day until the nail bed appears completely dry and scabbed over. You can place a toddler sock or a bootie over the paw when you take Caesar outside to pee and poop but I would avoid long walks for the next week. Good luck!
