Good hot spot spray

KitKat1

Works pretty good. The hot spit healed and I kept putting the spray on the area to keep my pup from licking.

This works great! We’ve been treating a hot spot in a tough spot on our pup for weeks but this stuff has a bit of a numbing agent do he leaves it alone.

I have been using this spray for years and it's great! It's great for cleaning superficial cuts/sores and the lidocaine and bitter taste keeps my obsessive cut licking dog from making a mess of it! I would highly recommend to others.

Allercaine is a Godsend.

The allercaine works, it helped my Zoe with her severe itching, in hot spots. My husband took her to the vet and we found out she has seasonal allergies. The vet prescribed allergy medication, not what i wanted for my Zoe, but Labradors are notorious for allergies.

Works as advertised

There are many brands out there. We've used this one for years and it has worked so I don't bother experimenting with others. Seen no adverse effect from my dogs licking it once or twice. The bitter stuff discourages them from licking after that and it suppresses itching or discomfort enough that they don't even pay attention to the area they were licking.

Only hot spot spray that works for my dogs

sharon

I am grateful to Tomlyn for several products that are far superior to other brands, at least for me and my 3dogs. the hot spot spray never lets me down. also i will be lost w/o their Pill Paste for dogs taking their meds. pill pockets just split apart and never found anything else that worked well either. the pill paste is such a grief-saver; i recommend it to everyone incl. my vet. most don't even know the paste is available, pliable but not messy and dogs enjoy it alot.

Questions

1 - 5 of 5 Questions
Sort by: Newest Answers

Is this fragrance free?

  1. No perfume type smells. But you can smell menthol type ingredients.

Is it harmful to your dog if they lick it after it is applied?

  1. Hi, It is a safe formula. Provide soothing, calming, temporary relief of pain and itching caused by insect bites, hot spots, burns, and other minor skin irritations in dogs. Allercaine by Tomlyn is an antiseptic, anti-itch spray that contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to soothe stinging, itching and pain. It also contains benzalkonium chloride, which has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties, to help prevent infection in minor cuts, scrapes and burns. Bittran II gives this formula a safe, bitter taste that discourages animals from licking and biting treated areas. Also contains soothing aloe vera gel. Allercaine can be used daily to help control compulsive scratching and spot chewing problems in dogs. Allercaine spray adheres easily to the skin (no messy run-off) and vanishes, leaving your dog's skin and coat dry and non-sticky. For dogs only. Thanks,

Can this be used to numb a cut

  1. My goodness - it does not numb. It just gives off a bad taste to stop them from licking. I hope you find something, but this is not your product.

I have used lidocaine to deaden the area around hair-mats on dogs and cats. Is there a better product that is available with out a RX/

  1. Thank you for your question. We do apologize at this time we do not offer a common local anesthetic similar to Lidocaine.

Can anti itch spray be used on or in ears

  1. I wouldn't put it IN the ear unless it says it's specifically for ears - which they do have products for ears. With how easily a dogs ears can become infected or damaged, it's best and safest to use stuff designed for it in my opinion. On the outside flaps of ears, definitely I do all the time.
