Hi there and thanks for posting on Boop by Petco! Some dogs respond to the thundershirt better than others, but in general, it does work very well at easing tension and anxiety in most dogs who wear the wrap. If Riley's anxiety is very pronounced during fireworks, you may want to talk to his veterinarian about anti-anxiety medications that can be prescribed. Calming chewables that have L-Theanine in them can also help as well at easing tension. I have linked an example of the calming chewables below. I hope this helps! https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/vetri-science-laboratories-composure-canine-bite-sized-chews

That sounds like a great idea for helping Bella calm down! Another thing you can do is play a soothing/calm talk show or music channel as the noise can help drown out some of the loud noise from the thunder to help Bella relax.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco. It sounds like Chester’s noise phobia has worsened with each passing year (which is very common). I’d recommend getting your vet involved. He or she can help you determine if Chester needs long-term anxiety medication or some some to have on hand for times of known fireworks. Do keep up with the collar and the thunder jacket though both help some. (I don’t know how many times he’s worn the jacket but the latest study I heard about said that is has its biggest effect after the 5th wear during a storm/firework episode). Best of luck to you and Chester!

Your best option is to try to wear Sunshine out every day. Making dogs physically tired typically helps to decrease anxiety and nervous behavior. The thunder jacket may help as well but it may not be comfortable to sleep in and could choke her if it shifts around too much. Make sure to try to keep her on the same routine your parents do as this can help her to feel more secure. If you have to work, you may look into having someone take her for a walk for you in the afternoon. Playing classical music in the background and giving her food puzzles, treat balls and frozen peanut butter stuffed Kong‘s may also help to occupy her. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.

The only things that are likely going to be effective for anxiety like this would be Zylkene (available through your vet or online) or perhaps a thunder shirt (available in most pet stores). You can also try an Adaptil collar, also available at many pet stores.
