I understand how frustrating it can be to get a dog comfortable in a kennel. There are a number of reasons that it is beneficial to get a dog comfortable being in a kennel, so I do think it is worth continuing to try. If Jasper needs to be kept quiet after surgery or for any other reason, we certainly want him to be comfortable in the kennel. For now, you might consider feeding him his meals in the kennel (without closing him in it). The goal would be for him to run into the kennel excited for food and associate it only with feeding. I am attaching a handout below that may have more ideas for you. https://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=1129 However I also don't think it's necessarily a problem for Jasper to sleep in your bed as long as you are comfortable with that. I am attaching a handout below that discusses reasons to have a dog sleep in a crate instead of a bed. You will have to make the best decision for your house as far as that goes, but you could al

No problem! Yeah just fill that Kong up! Presumably puppies can have “off” days just like we can. Also they are very smart. To be honest, she now knows that you’ll let her out of her run if she gives the signal that she has to potty. She’s going to use that to try and get out of her run to play because I’m guessing you let her out every time she does that. If she is actually going potty every time, of course let her out but if she isn’t, don’t buy her act. If she normally goes potty every 3-4 hours and just went potty 20 minutes ago, she might be a liar. Consider ignoring her for an hour. The run is perfectly fine as long as you keep stuff that can’t be chewed out of there!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor guy! I am so sorry to hear this. There are plenty of possibilities that could be causing this including neurological disease or orthopedic disease. This could certainly be related to him being in those conditions for a long time or perhaps is unrelated. This could even be due to weakness from dehydration or malnutrition. However, I do think that this warrants a veterinary evaluation as soon as possible to try to determine what may be going on. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat accordingly. Good luck and have a great day!

Hi, the majority of dogs suffers with different degrees of anxiety when they are separated from their owner. How much stress is he going to suffer with will also depends on the facility. Some dogs cope well with being kennelled whilst other just find the experience very distressing. In general dogs have to get used to be separated from their owners, because there will be circumstances in life where they will just have to. If it is possible a gradual approach would be better, i.e. getting to know the new place and facilities beforehand for a few hours at time and helping making this experience as positive as possible. I have a very friendly submissive medium size dog and I have taken her into a kennel for 3 days. The place was recommended by a client of mine who funnily enough has a lot of greyhounds. My dog found the experience traumatising, she did not pass feaces for 3 days and I got home to a very frightened and constipated dog. Since then I have stopped using kennels. I had to take

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! There are medications for anxiety that can work in these cases that can be used on an as needed basis such as Trazodone. This is something her veterinarian could prescribe. Good luck and have a good night!
