Hi and thanks for posting. A brand that comes to mind that may be what you are looking for is Sojos which is freeze dried food. You add a small amount of water to it and the food pieces are on the softer side but not mushy. I hope this helps!

Can I feed my diabetic cat small amounts of dry food in addition to the wet?
It's recommended to keep any cat on a canned only diet. In the case of a diabetic cat it is especially important to try to eliminate the carbohydrates present in any dry food to maintain better diabetic control. In fact, in a fair number of cases cats on prescription diabetic canned food and insulin therapy will actually go into diabetic remission and not require insulin anymore. So, in Stella's case I would try as hard as possible to only feed a canned diet. If she's not already on a prescription food for diabetes you may want to discuss starting one with your veterinarian. I never recommend Blue Buffalo. It's a terrible quality of food, they have no quality control (they don't own their own factories), and there have been recalls on the food. I don't recommend Rachel Ray either. She's a TV chef with no experience in animal nutrition. As for the others, they are grain free. Grain free is a fad, and I never recommend feeding it. The foods I recommended to you in your other post are high quality. I hope this helps.

My 3 year old male cat 12-13 lbs and healthy. I feed him wet canned food, approx. 1.5 oz 3 times a day. I also leave dry food out for him. He devours the cat food fresh from the can in the morning, but tends toward the dry food as the day goes on.
As a general rule of thumb, I tend to recommend Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan and Royal Canin diets. These companies thoroughly analyze the nutrient profiles of their foods, perform controlled clinical studies and source their ingredients well. As for Gracie's canned foods, consider microwaving the refrigerated portions for a few seconds to see if this may tempt him to eat any "leftovers".
