My Lab loves rawhide. What are the best huge, long-lasting dog chews?
My favorite rawhide chews are sold through a company called Raw Feeding Miami (www.rawfeedingmiami.com). They have large, very durable rawhide rolls that are all-natural and made without any chemicals or artificial processing. They're quite thick and last a long time, even for big dogs - I would highly recommend giving them a try if you're looking for a good rawhide for Buddy :)

My dog has allergies & bad teeth. What food & products are best?
Nikki is adorable! Thank you so much for posting pictures. You posted about a number of concerns, so hopefully I can address all of them. As far as her teeth go, it is always recommended to have a full dental cleaning under anesthesia to resolve any underlying problems and pain, then follow up with something like a water additive to decrease additional dental calculus from forming. My favorite dental product is PetSmile, but it does need to be applied to the teeth. https://petsmileusa.com There has been a lot of evidence that increasing the amount of Omega 3 fatty acids in the diet can make a big difference for inflammation and itching. Since a diet change and adding Omega 3 fatty acids to the diet can both cause loose stool, I normally only recommend that clients make one change to a diet at a time (which includes supplements). Both Acana and Wellness make a wonderful fish based diet, so I do not have a preference between the 2 of those. Make sure you do a gradual diet change over a period of days to prevent any GI upset and loose stools. Then, if you still need to add in an Omega 3 fatty acid supplement, you could add something like Nordic Naturals. https://www.nordicnaturals.com/petRet/ Good luck! The cost will depend on the vaccinations needed which will be determined by your dog's history and the vet's recommendations but you can look at https://www.vetcoclinics.com/services-and-clinics/vaccination-packages-and-prices/ for some ideas on prices. You can use this link https://www.vetcoclinics.com/services-and-clinics/lifestyle-assessment/ to help determine what vaccines Harold might need. I do not believe most locations do nail trims but you can call the store where the vaccine clinic is located to find out, often a groomer is affiliated within many of the stores and the groomer will do nail trims.

Rescued dog has ticks, low income. What to do before Petco grooming?
Congratulations on adding Max to your family! Max will need to have his vaccines before he can be groomed so he will need to see the veterinarian. The best products for ticks are oral products like Simparica and Nexgard. You will need approval from your veterinarian to get these products. Seresto collars and Frontline will also kill ticks. Depending on where you live, if tick borne diseases are common, it may also be recommended to start Max on an antibiotic to try to prevent tick borne diseases. Heartworm testing and likely prevention will also be recommended. Certainly you may be able to look into vaccine clinics or low cost clinics which may be able to offer most or all of these services (you will need to check if they can address the tick borne illness issue). You may also look into the wellness programs offered by VCA and Banfield if they are in your area. Sometimes this is an affordable way to get the normal preventive care items for pets.
