We knitted a sweater for Kiba but when we put it on him, he stiffens up and doesn't like it. How can we get him more comfortable in it?
Normally Havanese have enough hair not to be cold and would not need a sweater. A sweater may be itchy and restricting. If you really think Kiba needs to wear a sweater, make sure it is not too tight, and put it on often, so he gets used to it, but do not leave it on for long. It is also important that he is also well brushed and has no mats. Combine the wearing of the sweater with something he likes to do, ie going for a walk or starting to play with a ball. Make putting a sweater on a ritual before the fun activity so he makes a connection.

I took my 10yr, 12 lb. F chihuahua mix to the vet a couple months ago to get her anal glands expressed. She was scooting & swollen/red. They checked her and expressed and said she was fine. Maybe a week later she was still uncomfortable and scooting/
It appears from the pictures that hollys rectum is very red! It is possible she is having a recurring anal gland infection and needs oral antibiotics. Also she could be having allergies from the environment or fleas making her itchy. I recommend applying flea prevention and taking her back to a veterinarian. It might be time for a second opinion from a different veterinarian to be a little more aggressive with treatment plan.

Hi, and thanks for your question. This could be due to an allergy, although it could also be infection or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment, then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollens, dust etc etc). Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair any possible skin lesions (like steroids and antibiotics). Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is possibly due to allergies. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing his allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for environmental allergies which require blood and/or skin tests. Aller

Our Aussie mix 1 year old pup Willow licks her paws after she’s been outside. And it’s not just one paw. My sister recommenced Zesty Paws to help. My question is, Willow is on reconcile that she takes once a day, is it safe to give her this too?
Yes, she can take both concurrently. I actually prefer Redonyl over Zesty Paws. She would need one of the 200mg chews once a day so the 120 count package will last you almost 3 months. She would need 2 of the Zesty Paws and that will only last you 45 days.
