Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Jax! This is a serious phobia now if he won't go outside after dark. I highly recommend taking Jax to your Vet for medications. I would recommend starting a long acting anti-anxiety medication like Prozac. You will need to be proactive for fireworks and thunder storms for the future. You should have a short acting sedative to give before fireworks and thunderstorms. During these events he should be in a safe room with the TV AND a radio on. Do not force him outdoors during these times. You need to start desensitizing him towards firework noise now. That means playing a recording on a low volume while feeding him delicious treats and gradually increasing the volume. The goal being that he will associate GOOD things with the firework noise instead of fear. You will need to do something similar to get him back outside at night in combination with drugs. Good luck!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is likely behavioral in nature and it may be just while she realizes it is you. You can check in with your veterinarian for an eye exam to make sure that it is nothing that has to do with her vision. Otherwise, this may improve with time. Best of luck!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! First of all, thanks for rescuing! As you have probably noted there are plenty of diets out there. I prefer the Purina Pro Plan diets as well as the Science Diet foods. Any of these would be great for her. Good luck!

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. My top recommendations of veterinary diets include Hill's Science Diet, Purina, and Royal Canin. These are well-known brands that are stocked in veterinary hospitals, and are AAFCO formulated to be balanced and appropriate. I recommend avoiding grain-free, boutique diets from other brands, as these are not regulated and often are do not have balanced nutrients. I hope this is helpful!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I’d try Purina Proplan large breed puppy or their Focus line. Or Hill’s Science Diet large breed puppy. Be sure he isn’t getting sick and the decreased appetite is a sign. I wish you the best!
