Diarrhea in cats is a frustrating problems for owners, veterinarians, and certainly for cats, although they can’t tell us directly how they feel about it. Usually in cases of chronic diarrhea (symptoms lasting more than a week) the cat usually seems to be feeling pretty well, but if left undiagnosed and untreated over time the patient can lose weight and start to show signs of general illness, like lethargy, poor haircoat, and dehydration. These problems are due to the effects of reduced nutrient absorption over time. Whatever the inciting agent, nutrients and water aren’t absorbed into the body, and the food that’s ingested makes its way through the intestines much faster than it should, resulting in soft stool. It can be difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of chronic diarrhea in cats. If the diarrhea doesn’t resolve on its own (or perhaps with the addition of a little dietary fiber, like canned pumpkin) in a few days, the cat needs to see a veterinarian for an examination and testing to determine what’s going on. Here’s more information about the possible causes of diarrhea in cats, and what we do about them.

Hi, cats with pancreatitis can eat a prescription diet that vets carry. There are a few brands, There is Hill's ID or Purina EN. These can be purchased from your vet in canned and dry formula. They are very bland low fat diets. I would call your vet to see which they carry and get some of that to help your kitty. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. My top recommendations of veterinary diets include Hill's Science Diet, Purina, and Royal Canin. These are well-known brands that are stocked in veterinary hospitals, and are AAFCO formulated to be balanced and appropriate. I recommend avoiding grain-free, boutique diets from other brands, as these are not regulated and often are do not have balanced nutrients. I hope this is helpful!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I would switch him to another good high quality diet such as one made by Purina, Royal Canin or Science Diet. Any of these would be good choices for him. You may find this online or at your local pet store. Good luck!

Please don't waste your money on those expensive grain free foods. They are not necessary to use except in extreme cases of an actual diagnosed grain allergy which is rare. Grain free diets are now linked to causing heart disease in dogs (we are not sure yet about cats). I recommend you discontinue use of that type of food. My suggestion would be to use a long term course of a probiotic called Fortiflora. Put one packet on his food every day for at least one month. This will help correct any imbalance in good vs bad intestinal bacteria. DO NOT use human probiotics or things like yogurt. Fortiflora is the best in my opinion and it is palatable so cats like to eat it. I would use this one: ( https://www.royalcanin.com/products/royal-canin-feline-care-nutrition-digestive-care-dry-cat-food/2555 ) If your local pet store does not have this food they can surely o
