How do I exercise my dog in the winter?
Many dogs can be trained to run on a tread mill! This is commonly used for dogs who live in cold climates or have owners who are not able to tolerate cold weather. A trainer or behaviorist can help in the training but many people figure it out at home often with the help of guide books and videos. If Nyssa likes to play tug of war, purchase a tug toy and set aside 20 minutes a day to play with her. This is a good, dry/warm indoor activity! Many dogs don't mind playing ball in the snow or snow shoeing even! As long as conditions are safe and not icy, a good walk/jog or bike ride can be accomplished even in cold weather. Some people even ski with their dogs! If there is snow or rough terrain, she may need protection for her paws. Many cities now offer pools for dog swimming which can certainly tire them out. Where I live the winter and colder months have come. Peter has always been energetic. Is it normal for flopsy to move a bit slower and sleep more? flopsy still eats all his food and all his water.

Do some dogs go through a phase of being fearful of men or people with winter jackets?
Dogs can experience a phase where things they have not encountered previously can make them feel nervous or fearful. Teddy is just about at this age. I would advise exposing him to as many new experiences as you can while he is in this socialisation age. If he is fearful try gently positive reinforcement to help him feel safe and secure.

Happy new year! We live in Minnesota and our average temp is cold but recently we are 20 degrees below normal. Highs of -4 to -15 below with wind chills much lower. My question how long can our puppy be safely outside? Only 10 mins for frostbite
Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. At temperatures like this, I would be concerned with having Teddy out for more than 5 minutes. I would recommend using the boots for his feet that you can find online or at a local pet store and dressing him in a doggy sweater as this will help reduce chance of hypothermia / damage to the skin from the cold. How do I take care of my pets paws during the winter/snowy days ?
Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Great question. There are many ice melt products that are safe for pets. Non-toxic and non-irritating. You can also buy booties for Wolverine which would protect his paws while he is outside. Some dogs won't wear these so it's going to be a trial and error. Also, you can rinse and wipe his paws off after he goes outside to remove any ice melt that he stepped on and remove any snow that is stuck to his paws or hair coat. Again, great question.
