Hi there. My dog has what I think is a hot spot. Is this what it is. If so what are the treatment options. Are hot spot products sold at the pet store safe to use?
Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco! Based on the picture, it does appear that this could be a hot spot. I typically recommend using products that soothe and treat infection. What I would recommend would be Well & Good Hydrocortisone spray (at Petco) and Miconahex + Triz spray and apply both of these twice daily until resolved. If there is no improvement within 7 days, I would recommend taking your dog in to be seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! What an exciting time. You would need to start by getting a high quality diet (I like the Purina Pro Plan diets though there are plenty to choose from). Also, a dog bed and toys will be important as well. I recommend that you check with your veterinarian to get him in for initiation of vaccines and to start other preventative care medications such as flea and tick preventatives and heartworm preventatives. Is it ok to switch flavors of treats routinely? Like every month, when the bag runs out? Or should she be on the same flavor of treats as well? Why or why not? for example right now she's on a duck food. I have duck treats, bison treats, salmon treat
As long as your pet does not suffer from allergies, it is absolutely fine to switch flavors if you want to, some dogs will prefer the change, others will like the same flavor every time, it is very individual.

I'm not sure if they do or not - in the United States, it's available at most pet stores and even some large, "general" type stores like Walmart. I would suggest calling or visiting your nearest pet store and/or any large grocery stores in your area to see if they have it :)

Looking at dog food is Nulo a good one to feed been feeding her pedigree not sure what to feed her she’s 12
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! As you have probably noticed, there is an overwhelming amount of different diets in the market. I really like Purina Pro Plan shredded blends that you can consider.
