When should I bathe my pet and how do I dry them after their bath?
Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It is always best to bathe in the morning where a little sun will help to dry them. You can initially gently dry them with a soft towel, & perhaps dry them a bit with a hair dryer on very low moving the nozzle constantly. But then put them in a spot out of any breezes & let them preen themselves dry. They will appreciate this! Take care.

Is human hair gel safe for dogs, or should I buy a pet-specific one?
Human products are made for a different pH than what a dogs normal skin should be so long term use may cause problems. They do make different products for pets, such as conditioners, gels, and even dye base on what your need is. Any local petstore has all the supplies. What should I buy at Petco for my dog's flea dermatitis relief?
If there is a secondary bacterial infection, I would recommend using product called Duoxo Chlorhexidine + Calm shampoo and bathe twice weekly until resolved. I would also recommend picking up a hydrocortisone spray (Well and Good at Petco) and apply daily to the affected area to relieve inflammation. If it does not resolve or worsens, I would have a veterinarian take a look at Harley so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps!

Is it safe to bathe my dog with flea or human shampoo after Nexgard?
Hello. Thank you for using PetCoach. You should not have to use any flea shampoo now that she is on the Nexgard. Those flea shampoos are harsh on their skin and full of chemicals. You can use the L'oreal but it is not really recommended. If you do use it, use it sparingly and don't make it a habit. Dog skin is a different pH than ours, therefore, our shampoos tend to dry them out and strip the natural oils from their coats. I suggest you use a calming dog shampoo like this one. It will not dry her out or strip the oils. Nikki is adorable! Thanks for including pictures! Yes, PetSmile is expensive, but it is one of the only toothpastes to actually be approved by the Veterinary Oral Health Council. (Last year they ran a 25% off sale before Christmas, so I stocked up!) Yes, it is fine to use Dawn on Nikki's feet daily, but I suspect any gentle cleaner would be fine as well. You may have to experiment to find the best shampoo for her. I have been very pleased with EarthBath products, so you might want to try their Oatmeal and Aloe shampoo for itch relief. https://earthbath.com/product/oatmeal-aloe-shampoo/ There are also prescription itch relief shampoo and conditioner products if needed that you can talk to your vet about.
