How to clean a fish tank effectively? Should I remove my fish?
Hello, and thank you for using PetCoach. The most common (and easiest) way to clean a fish tank is with a siphon-style cleaner. Fish tanks should be cleaned in stages, generally replacing 10-15% of the water at a time. There are times where a larger cleaning might be necessary, but removing the fish and changing too much of the water at once can be quite a shock and can be dangerous to the fish, so this should be saved for only extenuating circumstances. New to fish? What are the easiest fish and tank size for beginners?
Guppies or Neons are excellent "starter" fish. Care is simple and they are inexpensive. A standard 10 gallon tank is recommended to start. Most people don' t realize the amount of "work" needed to maintain a tank. Filter maintenance, monitoring water chemistry, water changes, monitoring fish health and providing a balanced diet are just a few items that need regular attention to keep a tank thriving. Even though fish aren't as cuddly as cats and dogs, they do have their own personalities and even respond to their owners, especially at feeding time! Studies have shown that simply watching fish in a tank can lead to a reduction in both heart rate and blood pressure. It is quite relaxing.

Where to buy a bristlenose pleco if Petco doesn't have them?
I would recommend to call the local pet stores (including Petco) and ask if they ever carry that species. Sometimes the fish can be out of stock. Some of the smaller fish stores can have a good variety of fish available. Best of luck!

How to save my new fair fish in a bowl? What should I feed it?
It sounds like you need to take a trip to your local pet store. The clerks there can help you pick out an appropriately size tank with proper filtration and heating that can help keep Sushi healthy. They can also let you know what water treatments you'll need for the water in your area, as well as test any water you bring it to see if it is OK for Sushi to live in. Pet stores will also carry commercial goldfish food which is a balanced diet that is given to them. It should have feeding instructions on it so you know how much is appropriate to give to Sushi.

What's wrong with my fish? White spots, raised scales, swimming low.
Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Ariel does look like she has a little bit of white on her abdomen, and potentially some raised scales. She also appears to be swimming towards the bottom of the tank, but this may just be a coincidence in the photo. The white on the abdomen can be caused by a fungal or parasitic infection, so I recommend separating this fish from the others. You may want to change the water and sanitize the tank if any other fish start to get similar symptoms. I hope this helps and am happy to answer any other questions you may have!
