My picky cat needs new hydrolyzed Rx canned food. What are options?

Frankly, I do not care for Blue Buffalo products because they have a history of lying about their ingredients in their diets. Hills and Royal Canin are my preferred brands. There are other limited protein food brands out there, such as Natural Balance, which has formulas with a single protein source and a single carbohydrate source, making it less likely for your cat to develop an allergy.

How do I choose the best grain-free wet cat food for my cat?

I like EVO, Nutro and Avoderm brands. You ask 15 vets and you'll get 15 answers :) It is personal opinion for sure. I would try a brand and see if you cat likes it. If so, and it seems to agree with her then continue. If it doesn't seem to agree with her (diarrhea, vomiting, poor hair coat, less energy) then I would try a different brand until you find one that does agree with her. I hope this helps! Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! The most common reason for chronic vomiting in cats is a food allergy. I am personally not a fan of grain free diets unless the pet has a proven grain allergy due to the issues with dogs right now and grain free diets (heart disease). This issues hasn't been reported in the cat grain free diets. I have no problem with the Nutro you pictured above IF it solves Greyson's chronic vomiting problem Give him 2-3 months on the diet and if it significantly reduces the vomiting I am fine with it. Are popular dog food brands like Nutro and Purina truly harmful?

The Internet says a lot of things. Petfood is one of those issues that people can have a lot of convictions about. However the question is have those individuals had actual training about pet nutrition. In making choices about pet food, I often look at a history of recalls. Newer pet food companies and boutique brands are more likely to have recall issues because they tend to not have as much quality control in the production of their food. Mistakes do happen and any company can have a recall but that is something to pay very close attention to. The older, more established companies tend to have good protocols in place to catch any errors before their food gets out on the shelves and pets get sick. I believe Nutro does offer a line of pet food that is more holistically-based as well. You should be able to find a lot of variety within the brand and know that it is all high-quality. Most pets who eat Nutro tend to have good coat and stool quality too, this is a good sign. I hope this is

Prescription Royal Canin recovery canned diet is generally palatable (yummy) to even sick or hospitalized cats and is another option as well that your vet can either sell from his/her practice or prescribe.
