A few general recommendations: stick with well known brands with a good reputation. Look for products made in the USA. Kibble works great for treats and I use Purina Pro Plan chicken or lamb and rice. Dry biscuit type treats usually have less calories and salt. The jerky or moist type treats are fine in moderation (they have more calories and salt usually). Lastly, many dogs really like dehydrated chicken livers and chicken jerky. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

The key to doing treats while a dog is on an elimination diet is to use treats that have the same ingredients as the food you are trying. Sometimes the easiest way to do this is to use canned food of the variety and flavor that you are using to put in a Kong or bake into treats. Other options would be to use sweet potato chews if the food you are feeding has sweet potatoes in it (which Zignature kangaroo does not) or giving dehydrated chews that are the same meat source that you are feeding (which will be a challenge for a kangaroo food). So, for the food you are feeding right now, the best option may be to use canned Zignature kangaroo to create treats for Lucy. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Easy snacks include raw carrots or green beans. You can also dehydrate boneless chicken breasts to use as treats and rewards. Most of the premium diets offer treats in their product lines. These brands include Royal Canin, Canidae, Acana or Orijen.

I have used Fromm for years and always been very pleased with their products. Their Four Star line does have grains in it which doesn't bother me for most dogs, but some people do not like that. I have not used the Nulo line before. In looking at their ingredients, they have very good ingredients. One word of caution though if you have a Cavalier is that they are generally not high energy dogs or athletes, so the Nulo line might have more protein and fat than she needs. If you decide to try Nulo with her, you might select one of the lower fat diets. I always tell clients that there is no perfect food. You have to try it with your pet and see how they do on it. It doesn't matter if it has all the right ingredients, if your dog doesn't do well on it. I think both lines are good foods, so select one and see how Chloe does on it. I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! As you have probably noticed, there is an overwhelming amount of different diets in the market. I really like Purina Pro Plan shredded blends that you can consider. Nulo also makes good diets so that would also be a good option for Bell. Good luck and have a great day!
