Hello. Some feed co-ops will have their own brands that they mill themselves, & there are regional graineries as well. Nutrena is a well known national brand, as is Dumor. Personally, I use Purina & Nutrena, altho in a pinch, I will pick up the brand made by a nearby grain mill. So yes, Purina is an excellent brand. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

If you contact your local Petco they can special order this food for you. I'm sure you can tell by going to any large pet store, that there are hundreds of pet foods and each pet food has many varieties. There is no way Petco can carry every possible food available. They have to carry what are the best sellers. Like I said, your local store can special order the food for you. Hope this clarifies. Best wishes.

This is a great question to be asking early. Gsds and chihuahuas have different nutritional needs and large dogs in particular can have serious developmental problems if not feed properly as puppies. I am unsure of what your options are in your small town, but I would continue to look for an over the counter kibble that is AAFCO tested (there should be a section of the label addressing this). If you can't find one, I would ask your vet. You can still add a small amount of chicken, meat or rice to their food. If they only want home cooked food, I am happy to do a consultation to help you figure out which direction to go!
