What summer products protect my dog's paws, coat, and repel bugs?

For days where it is very hot, you do want to avoid taking your dog for a walk at the hottest parts of the day (mid-day) especially on paved areas as your dog's feet can get burned. Help! My puppy is teething and biting everything. What toys work?

Kong toys are my favorite. You can pack them with treats, freeze chicken broth inside of them, and they are almost indestructible. Also switching toys often so they don’t “get bored” with what is available to them.

Get a Kong and stuff it with kibble or treats. Then smear peanut butter (make sure it does not contain any xylitol) over the hole completely. Put it in the freezer for a few hours. The coolness will feel good on M. J’s gums. In general King toys are a favorite for dogs. Rope toys can also massage the gum when he bites into them. If you go to the Pet Store or online you can find toys specifically for teething puppies. They can often be put in the refrigerator. As a sidenote, always check his toys for any pieces that he could tear off and swallow as this could cause an intestinal blockage. Throw away any of those toys and buy him new ones when this occurs.
