As far as dog food goes, I tend to recommend Hill's Science Diet or the higher end Purina products. If you are looking to go a more natural route you would want to try something like Earthborn or Acana. Periodontal disease can be delayed with regular teeth brushing if Ratchett will allow it. You should be able to purchase most of what I mentioned at one of those stores. Hope this makes sense.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! As long as Hazel doesn’t get an upset stomach with sudden food changes it should be fine to use the Hill’s k/d until the Royal Canin is back in stock. I hope this helps!

I'm very sorry you lost Lani. Yes, it is true there was a recall for a high level of vitamin D, but there are many dog foods that have had recalls for a number of different reasons. Overall, it has proven to be an excellent food, which is why we sell it. They do run food trials, have veterinary nutritionists on staff, and meet AAFFCO standards, which none of the boutique and grain free diets do. I know you won't agree with my answer, and I am so sorry that you lost your dog.

Ideally, I would recommend a prescription diet such as Royal Canin MP, or Hills prescription diet k/d. If he will not eat a prescription food, choose a senior formulation of some kind. Wet or canned food is great, but if he prefers dry that's fine. Ensure that there is plenty of fresh water sources throughout your home. I wish you and Peaches the best! Thank you for asking Boop by Petco.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This would not necessarily be concerning. If he has been gaining weight, you could consider a diet for weight loss such as the hills science diet metabolic weight loss management diet which works great for weight loss. Good luck and have a good day!
