Feed a commercial pelleted diet (Harrison's, Roudybush, Lafeber, Pretty Bird or Exact) supplemented with a small amount of a fortified seed mix, fresh greens and vegetables and cooked foods such as grains, beans and pastas. You can even offer a bit of scrambled eggs, shells included, occasionally.

You can supplement with a small amount of a fortified seed mix. Round out her diet with fresh greens, vegetables and a small amount of fruit. She can also eat foods such as cooked grains and beans and plain pasta. Scrambled egg is also a healthy treat. Introduce new foods gradually and one at a time. Monitor for loose droppings afterwards.

Parakeets, also called Budgerigars, are small members of the parrot family and they can become good mimics. The average adult size is 7 inches long, head to end of tail. The average life span is between 10 to 20 years with proper care. A well-balanced Parakeet diet consists of: Specialized pellets should make up 60-70% of diet, fresh vegetables and fruits and small amounts of fortified seeds Clean, fresh, filtered, chlorine-free water, changed daily. Do not feed birds: avocado, fruit seeds, chocolate, caffeine or alcohol; it can cause serious medical conditions. Avoid sugar and high fat treats. Things to remember when feeding your Parakeet: Fresh food and water should always be available. Vegetables and fruits not eaten within a few hours should be discarded. Remember, treats should not exceed 10% of total food intake. Housing Parakeets acclimate well to average household temperatures, not to exceed 80°F; be cautious of extreme temperature changes. Thanks for reaching out. Are these birds becoming more mature, therefore hierachy changing, or competition over food, perches, territory? The daily diet should consist of some seed but also fresh vegetables (all), a protein source such as cooked beans/tofu, therefore treats can be fruit (dried, fresh). Good luck.

Happy birthday, Peko! I'm not entirely sure what smackers and petsile fruits are, but they look to be some sort of seed treat made especially for birds, so it should be OK to give. If you'd like to give the birds a special treat, some veggies such as salad greens, berries, fruits like a little apple or pear, etc can all be given as a fun snack as an alternate option. Other items such as spray millet are another fun treat most budgies enjoy. Make sure you are giving any treats in moderation and still feeding their regular diet to ensure they stay healthy and do not have any GI upset.
