Goldfish tank mates: Danios, heaters, and fish separation anxiety?
Thanks for reaching out about Corn. Despite what most people think, fish are subjected to stressors and are social organisms. Whether the goldfish and danio are bonded or not, can not comment. You could provide a heater for the goldfish also, as they do better is kept at a more consistent temperature. As for other fish, goldfish and tetra families do pretty well, although goldfish have been known to occasionally eat smaller fish. Good luck.

My Glowfish has TB. How to confirm and prevent spread to other fish?
Unfortunately there is no effective cure for mycobacteriosis in fish. Skimmer should be removed from the tank and the water of the main tank should changed gradually but completely over the next month. There are environmental factors that favor growth of mycobacterium which include low dissolved oxygen, low salinity, low pH, warmer water, and high organic loads (food feces and vegetable matter). Various antibiotics such as rifampin, erythromycin, streptomycin, kanamycin, doxycycline, and minocycline have been suggested as possible treatments, but a clinical cure is unlikely. I would suggest a check up at your local aquatic vet to confirm your suspicion and attempt a treatment.

What's the best food for my Rosaline Sharks, Congo Tetras, and Pleco?
The Sharks and Tetras can eat a high quality flake food every day. Brine shrimp (either live or frozen) and blood worms can also be offered. Tetra and Hikari are my own recommendations. The Pleco can eat fresh greens or vegetables. Remove any uneaten food after 24 hours to prevent fouling the water. Sinking wafers or pellets can also be offered.

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. You can try a few different routes to see if anyone would like some of your fish. You can post on Kijiji, or you can go around to your local pet stores and vet clinics and let them know you have free fish for good homes. Pet stores might be able to help you out if they have a bigger tank. You could also put up flyers. Best of luck finding good homes for your fish.

Why are my fish dying with grey spots? How do I treat their illness?
Check the water chemistry. The discoloration could be due to elevated ammonia levels which can cause "burns". Use a home test kit or submit a water sample for testing. The local Petco may do this for free or for a small fee. Aim for an absence (0 ppm) of ammonia and nitrites with nitrates at 20ppm or less. Perform partial water changes to stabilize chemistry and/or to improve water quality. Use only conditioned water that is temperature matched to prevent stress or shock. The Neons (blue fish) appear to be infected with Ich, a parasite. Treatment is possible with commercial products found in the local Petco. Follow label directions carefully. You will need to treat the entire tank until all traces are gone. Removing a lump from your fish on your own is never recommended. You can cause severe injury. Most broad spectrum antibiotics (Kanaplex, Maracyn, Maracyn 2, etc.) found in the aquarium section of the local Petco should help treat or prevent infection. Choose one and follow label directions. Remove the carbon filter insert during treatment if indicated. Maintain pristine water quality via filtration and regular partial water changes to aid in recovery. You can feed frozen worms, just thaw then first in a small cup then place them in the tank.
