I found 3 ticks on my dog for the first time today. One of them had already fed and was enlarged. Is it highly important to take him to his vet? Or will the store products like frontline work as well?
Frontline is a good product and should do the trick. If the ticks do not come off or die with the frontline or you are finding new ones after treatment, I would consult with your vet about getting a different product such as nexgard or bravecto.

My dog has been having rspca fleaway fleatreatment but It doesn’t work,do you recommend a flea treatment(I’ve heard advantage or frontline plus are good but are they)I would have advocate but it’s so expensive at the vets. Thankyou
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Fleas are super smart and have developed resistance to a lot of products. In the US we see fleas that are resistant to Frontline. Maybe a little less to Advantix/Advantage. Personally I think the new oral flea and tick preventions are the best: Nexgard and Simparica are monthly and Bravecto is one pill every 3 months. Also the Seresto collar is great and good value for the money, the collar lasts 8 months. These products are not cheap, they cost about $16/dose. But they are prescription from a Vet only. The price is worth the efficacy and it will save you in the long run from trying multiple products, bombing your house, etc plus it will help your dog quicker. I hope this helps and have a great day!

Put frontline plus on my dog- now he's very lartharic? Is there something I should do
it may be a reaction to the medicine. The best thing to do is bathe him in dawn dish washing liquid to strip the medicine and oils from his coat and skin. If he starts twitching or having tremors, then he needs to go to a vet. If he is not normal by morning then I would take him in to see if there is something else going on

I'm sorry you are having such problems with fleas! I have personally found, as have a number of my colleagues, that there is resistance to Frontline and pets continue to have problems with them despite applying the Frontline. I will give you the flea treatment program I typically recommend and have found to be very effective. First, I would give Shadow Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30 minutes. Then follow up with a spot on treatment, such as Advantage or Revolution. This is a treatment that has to be used once a month. You will also have to disinfect the environment, this is very important. Wash his bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. You may have to flea bomb the house a few times to kill all the fleas. Do you prefer Modesto collars or frontline topical for flea control?
I prefer spot-ons and chews over collars. The only collar I would recommend is Seresto. This, in my opinion would be superior to Frontline, as in many areas there are resistances to Frontline already.
