I am wanting to purchase a dog from an online ad. This wouldn't be my first option... I know adopting from rescues and breeders are better but I have yet to find a dog that meets my preferences in a shelter & don't have enough money for an expensive
It's great that you're trying to plan ahead and make sure you're asking good questions! I'm not sure what breed you're looking at, but in general, I would definitely consider saving up a bit to purchase a puppy from a reputable breeder if you can. Even if the purchase price is a bit higher than a puppy from an online ad, getting a pup from a more reliable source can save you a lot of heartache (and money!) down the line by avoiding costly health issues and behavioral problems due to poor breeding. If you do opt to go ahead and purchase a puppy through on ad online, I would talk to the breeder/seller about the following things: 1) Make sure the puppies are AKC registered. Even if you want "just a pet", no responsible breeder would be breeding dogs that aren't AKC registered. It's a big red flag that you're dealing with a puppy mill or really careless backyard breeder. 2) Ask what health clearances the puppies' parents have had, and ask to see documentation. I'm not sure if they do or not - in the United States, it's available at most pet stores and even some large, "general" type stores like Walmart. I would suggest calling or visiting your nearest pet store and/or any large grocery stores in your area to see if they have it :)

How can I get the Interceptor plus that I was given my dogs without having to take all 3 of them to the vet? I came from Puerto Rico and they all current in shots and everything
If you have proof that the dogs have a current negative heartworm test (current means a test within the last year) then you can get the product at any one of our VETCO vaccination clinics. If you do not have proof of a negative heartworm test, you can get the test done at the clinic and then you can buy the Interceptor (or any type of heartworm prevention). My pet has fleas, and I am looking for a good store product to get rid of them . Please help
Sometimes the best place to get advise for fleas is from the locals or the local veterinarian. The reason for this is that fleas in certain geographic areas are more susceptible to certain products than others. For instance, when I lived in NY everyone used Frontline and loved it. When I went down to Virginia, everyone hated it and their animals would be crawling with fleas regardless of use. Here in Pennsylvania, it doesn't seem to work well either. I find that that the Seresto collar is the most effective product, and it is nice because it lasts or eight months. It can be purchased over the counter on websites such as amazon or at Walmart. I am getting a new puppy in 8 weeks! What all do I need to do to get prepared for the arrival of our new family member?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! What an exciting time. You would need to start by getting a high quality diet (I like the Purina Pro Plan diets though there are plenty to choose from). Also, a dog bed and toys will be important as well. I recommend that you check with your veterinarian to get him in for initiation of vaccines and to start other preventative care medications such as flea and tick preventatives and heartworm preventatives.
