Should I purchase a water fountain for my dog? She does drink on her own several times a day. But that sounds like a good idea. Does it really encourage them to drink more water? Is it easy to clean? I currently like to wash my dogs water bowl daily
I highly recommend purchasing a water fountain! I have one for my dogs and cats, and they love it. They are easy to clean, and have filters to help keep the water clean. Plus they hold lots of water, so you don't have to fill it up daily. There are many differing types of water fountains, and I will put a link below to a number of different ones. You are very welcome. In dogs we don't see this issue so much with water intake. Cats are usually always problematic to get adequate water into their system. Therefore your dog can have either wet or dry based on preference of the pet and yourself. I feel that giving half dry and half wet to cats is certainly better than no wet at all. Plus I can certainly understand that this may be more a cost effective way to care for your pet. If you also implement the placement of water fountains in your home, then this has shown to encourage cats to drink more because it is considered a fresher water source. I honestly have never heard of the special bowls made just for spaniels. That is a great idea and as long as your pets drink from it, then I say mission accomplished! It is, after all, still just a water fountain. I can certainly understand not wanting to continue to use a fountain which gets a daily dip from your pets ears. My dog doesnt drink water adequately. What should do about it?? Its summer here!!
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I find that dogs will drink what they need. If you feed him canned food that has more water and moisture in it thus they drink less water. In warmer weather and with exercise I bet that Toby will drink more to compensate. Always having fresh waster available will allow him to drink when he is ready and needs to. You can add water gradually to his dry food to trick him in to taking in more water. If you find that this doesn't work and he doesn't drink when hot and over heats then I would have your Vet do an exam. Here are a few other tips! You can try different types of bowels and have multiple down, raise the water bowl up since he is a big dog, make sure the bowls are clean, add ice cubes to the water, purchase a water fountain, add low sodium chicken broth or bone broth to the water. What is the best dog bowl material that is non toxic, going to stay clean, not get a film at the bottom and not harbor bacteria?
Hello, and thanks for your question on Boop by Petco. It's great that you're being conscientious about this! I recommend ceramic, glass, or stainless steel bowls. They tend to be cleaner, and are safe to throw in a dishwasher cycle now and then. I'd specifically avoid plastic. Hope that helps!

My rat terrier seems to spit up a little when she drinks water. It is usually just clear. Im wondering if it is possible she is just drinking her water too fast and if there is a way to slow her down. It isn't every time either.
