Hi, in terms of cat furniture don’t worry cats don’t need anything particularly fancy. They enjoy sitting on a shelf as in the picture and look outside the window. You would add some cardboard boxes that can also work as cratching posts and a couple of pillow on the bookshelf. I think the feeding area would better be moved, because being right in front of the windows is exposed, they can see/be seen and could spot something that might upset them. It is also advisable to keep feeding areas away from their litter tray and perhaps moving it would help increasing this distance. Are there only two cats in the room ? If so also consider the number of litter trays. I mo not sure how many you have at present, and if things work out well I probably would suggest not to change them. You can find lots of ideas in building/creating cat furniture from ikea furniture if you fancy a change in the future. Also cats will need to be active and interact with you so make sure you consider this in your rou

Ohio to Florida is a very long drive for a stressed out kitty. I would consider the use of pharmaceuticals to relieve the anxiety associated with this trip. There are drugs that can both relieve stress and / or tranquilize scrappy for moderated to extended periods of time. Also, you are speaking about a harness. Are you not intending on placing Scrappy in a crate / cat carrier for the trip? I would definitely reconsider if this is your plan, as this sort of confinement will certainly make Scrappy feel more comfortable. You can also add something like a Feliway spay to the carrier, which is a pheromonal substance designed to keep cats calmer. Hope this helps and good luck with your move!

For that long of a ride, I would highly recommend the use of a carrier. Although free roaming may seem like it would make your kitty more comfortable, giving a cat a secure, small, and dark location is something the best thing you can do for them. It will allow it to relax more easily, which is exactly what cats want to do in unusual and out of the ordinary situations like the one it is about to experience. I would also recommend using a product like Feliway, a feline pheromone product that can be placed inside the carrier or in the car. It has a calming effect on many kitties. Lastly, there are drugs that can be used for events such as this that will calm your kitty down for a few hours if you think that might be necessary. They are generally safe and pretty effective. Hope this helps.

That's cool that the recovery suit will work for her then. The cost of crates vary by location, so I would check costs in pet stores, as well as checking online sites that resell things (like Ebay if you have that in Bosnia & Herzegovina). You may be able to buy one second hand. Yes, she can eat her regular food :-)

I would agree with Dr. Johnson. Catnip and Feliway spray can be helpful. You might also consider some training, by having her spend time in her carrier at home without actually going anywhere. Giving her treats in the carrier at home, and even progressing to short car rides around the block can be good baby steps to becoming comfortable for longer trips. I hope this helps.
