Works for Me!
Bought this gate to block my AmStaff from getting to close to the front door when I have it open. He respects gates and barriers so I am not worried about him knocking it over, even though he could. The gate itself is made well, but the stabilizing feet are made out of flimsy plastic. I removed a star for that.

Specification width is Incorrect
Seems sturdy enough, however the specifications are wrong, and for me that makes a huge difference, as I needed this expanded to it's max width. It does not expand to 70 inches, but to just over 67 inches. Being how the locks at the bottom will only latch between the wires, it is impossible to latch it at its full expansion of just over 67 inches, therefore taking even a bit more off of the expansion. Not happy.

Poor construction
Just bought this and it came out of the box with 2 corners broken. Since I didn’t want to deal with returning or exchanging, I had my husband fix and reinforce every connecting corner with wood screws. The gate looks nice, just not very sturdy. I was expecting better quality for this price.

Awesome gate!
Absolutely love this gate! It looks amazing and all of our 4 dogs have had no issues with it. We have a black lab and Doberman mix and 2 smaller dogs. No attempts at jumping or pushing the gate. Easy to put the "feet" on the gate also.

great doggy gate
this doggy gate is completely independent, so no holes in the wall or pressure cups, it stands on it's own, very stable, it's very sturdy, comes mostly assembled, you just have to put the feet on, plus it's very nice looking.easy to adjust the width and it says to 70 inches but I think it would do 74 inches because of the feet. Highly recommend this gate

Carlson Freestanding Pete Gate large
Perfect! We needed some kind of barrier for our front porch so we could relax while our two cattle dogs were out there with us. Our opening is really wide (66”), and we didn’t want anything permanent, but something we could move easily. This is exactly what we were looking for. It’s sturdy, and there’s a hard plastic tab on each foot that sits against the posts and keeps the dogs from pushing it through the opening. Our dogs are older and well-behaved so this was perfect. When we go inside we just slide it to the side behind the existing railing. It looks really nice too!

How far to the black 'feet' on the bottom of the gate extend out on each side --- looking for something for opening of stairway and I'm thinking the feet may run into the bottom of the first stair, prevent the gate from being flush with the opening
- Depends on width of gate. If you room to extend the gate a little past the actual steps it could be gush. I love the gate - it looks beautiful. My dog is 55 lbs if trouble and never moves the gate of the jumps the gate and you don’t need to install anyghing

How well does this gate hold up outdoors? How about outdoors, uncovered, in the Pacific Northwest?
- I doubt this will hold up / look good, after much time out doors. It is stained and varnished, so sticking it outside in the rain and such, will cause it to fall apart after a while. It IS NOT for outdors.

- Since this gate is freestanding, it can be moved aside......once the pets and children learn to just move it aside, it is really quite useless........

What are dimensions of the “feet”. I need to know how far they extend
- don't have the gate anymore since it was not effective.......my large dog just pushed it aside.........I was using it in the 48" space between my living and family rooms and it extended at least a foot farther on each side......but since it has those "feet" you cannot position it up against anything..... there is always that open space for the dogs to walk through.........

How does the gate open,swing or slide
- This is NOT a "Gate". It is really a "wall / barrier." No swinging door, etc. Grab it and move it aside to get pass it.

I have a Siberian Husky and he's about 2-3 years old. I was not able to locate a review or question regarding how effective this gate is for a dog of this breed and size (he's medium built). When he's outside he likes to jump on top of his kennel.
Looking for something that will work in an offset opening. will this securely attach inside an opening that is not evenly spaced - i.e. column to wall that are 4" offset
- Hello Deb! I would suggest model 1610 DS for any off set openings. The free standing gate may not work for your off set opening. Let us know if you have any further questions

What keeps this in place? Can't a dog just push on it and move it? I'm confused.
