My dog's cherry eye has white film and poor vision. Home remedies?
Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. I am sorry to hear that you are unable to get the necessary treatment for Lolly. I would consider looking into CareCredit and apply for a line of credit you can use for veterinary care. You can go to their website and apply online. If that is not an option, I would consider using an eye medication called Optixcare, which you can find online quite easily. I would at least give this a try and see if it helps. My dog's brown, gel-like eye gunk that hardens. How to clean?
I recommend to have Boogie examined to make sure this change is not related to an infection or other pathology. Otherwise use a moistened cottonball to clean the tears. There are also pet specific eye wipes like Angel Eyes. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

What can I use to clean my dog's eye boogers safely at home?
If you just need to remove the eye discharge, you can put warm water on a cotton ball and gently wipe the inside corner of the eye. If the discharge quickly returns or you notice discharge in the eye as well, you can use any sterile saline eye wash made for humans. If the discharge is not resolving after a couple of day or is getting worse at any point, then I would have your veterinarian recheck the eye and determine if any medication is needed to resolve the problem. My dog's eye is red, drops aren't working. Should I see the vet again?
Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be due to something like conjunctivitis for example. However, there are some other diseases that really need a very thorough evaluation of the eye to diagnose. I think that if he has not improved on the current therapy, it may be a good idea to check in with your veterinarian. If they are concerned based on their knowledge of his case, they could consider having you consult with a veterinary ophthalmologist.
