I personally do not like Blue Buffalo at all. They have had serious quality control problems which they have admitted due to the fact that they don't own their own factories. They therefore give the recipe to someone to make, and have no control over whether or not the recipe is followed exactly. Plus many colleagues have reported an increase in gas with this food. I would not recommend Blue Buffalo for Fiffy. As for the other two foods, between the two of them I would recommend the Nutro Max. It's a better quality food in my opinion. Just so you are aware, grains are beneficial to dogs and I do not recommend feeding a dog a grain free food unless they have a proven grain allergy, which isn't very common at all in dogs. Food allergies are the least common type of allergies in dogs, and when they do have a food allergy, it is most commonly related to protein not grain. There are very few dogs who have true grain allergies. It is beneficial for Fiffy's health to feed her grains, and brands that I would recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I hope this all helps!

Hello. Any of the 3 will be fine. The problem with all 3 of these companies is they do absolutely no true feeding trials with their diets. All of their information comes out of a laboratory. There are basically only 3 companies that do actual feeding trials on living dogs, Hills, Royal Canin & Purina. If you want the best go with these, otherwise, any of the 3 you mentioned will be fine. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! There have been a lot of issues with Blue Buffalo but most of what you read online is from upset pet owners who’s pets got sick or died and they want to blame a product or food. Sadly they do this with out evidence to back it up. If Patches is doing well it’s up to you if you want to change it. Blue Buffalo isn’t a brand I recommend. I recommend Hill’s, Royal Canin and Purina because they have veterinary nutritionists on staff. Have a good day!

I would not recommend blue buffalo as I have seen some negative side effects of their urine. One of my favorite more natural foods that dogs seem to like is natural balance limited ingredient diets. They have a lot of flavors. I hope this helps.

Blue Buffalo has had a few recalls, most recently in March due to possibly high thyroid hormone levels in beef. It was a voluntary recall you can read more about it at https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls/ucm547335.htm. There have been no recalls listed since that time. I would consider it a safe food. Some dogs do well on it, but we also see dogs where this brand causes diarrhea or GI upset. Every pet is different and may do better on one food vs. another, so if you have been feeding Blue Buffalo and your dog does well on it, I see no reason to change his diet.
