Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! There have been a lot of issues with Blue Buffalo but most of what you read online is from upset pet owners who’s pets got sick or died and they want to blame a product or food. Sadly they do this with out evidence to back it up. If Patches is doing well it’s up to you if you want to change it. Blue Buffalo isn’t a brand I recommend. I recommend Hill’s, Royal Canin and Purina because they have veterinary nutritionists on staff. Have a good day!

I personally do not recommend Blue Buffalo for any dog for a number of reasons. This is a food that has no quality control, which the company had admitted. They don't own their own factories, so they pay someone else to make their food and therefore do not have any control as to what does and doesn't go into their food. Many of my colleagues have reported dogs on BB having the worse gas they have ever experienced. I recommend feeding a brand such as Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, or Iams. Purina ProPlan and Dams would be the cheaper options of these four brands. I hope this helps :-)

This is a great question, especially because there are so many food options out there for puppies! Several brands of food including Hill's Science Diet, Royal Canin, and Purina One are often preferred. These companies do a lot of research and quality control to ensure their foods meet strict nutritional standards so I would recommend one of these brands for Sixx. These companies also make canned puppy food which may entice Sixx to eat more enthusiastically. Thanks for using Boop by Petco!

Blue Buffalo has had a few recalls, most recently in March due to possibly high thyroid hormone levels in beef. It was a voluntary recall you can read more about it at https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls/ucm547335.htm. There have been no recalls listed since that time. I would consider it a safe food. Some dogs do well on it, but we also see dogs where this brand causes diarrhea or GI upset. Every pet is different and may do better on one food vs. another, so if you have been feeding Blue Buffalo and your dog does well on it, I see no reason to change his diet.

I personally recommend Eukanuba. I do not like Blue Buffalo at all, I've seen a number of dogs have health issues on it such as gastroenteritis, plus there is no quality control over their food. They do not own their own factories and send their recipes to other factories to make it. Finally, they do not have a veterinary nutritionist on staff to make sure the food is nutritionally balanced like Eukanuba has. I definitely would buy her Eukanuba. I hope this helps, and enjoy your new puppy!
