My dog has a mast cell tumor on the back of his leg that is being treated (palliative care) with chemo therapy, prednisone and benadryl. However, after those medications, his leg is still so swollen and he seems like he is in pain/very lethargic. His groin is also quite bruised. Can I apply a cold or hot compress for the swelling? Is there anything else I can do?
I’ve read online to put and ice pack or something warm on a dogs sprained leg which one should I use?
Whats the case of this dog’s shoulder
For a while my dog has had like shoulder/neck pain is there anything he can take?
Hi! Rocco was running down the driveway today and all of a sudden started limping. It is his right front leg, and it seems like the pain is in his shoulder. When you push his shoulder inwards he cries... Outward is okay though. Is there anything I can do for the pain and swelling/inflammation? I was trying to ice it, but he doesn't like the cold. Is there anything I could give him? I don't want him to be in pain, but I don't want him to injure it more if he can't feel the pain. Ideas? Thanks!
My dog just tore a hole in my Rapid relief reusable hot/cold non toxic gel pack (for use on my sore back) when I was on another room. The bag is still full of the gel so I don’t think he had much if any. It does say it’s non-toxic but should I be concerned?
How can I help my dog with his arthritis
My elderly dog has a swollen back leg after a fall on the ice. She is putting little to no pressure on the limb, but has good range of motion & doesn’t whimper when I move it or touch it. I have to wait until tomorrow to bring her to the vet. In the meantime, is there anything I can do to help her?
Phoebe hurt her shoulder and/or leg yesterday. Not sure from what. She stands on okay, but she does favor it when she walks. She takes Metacam already for arthritis. I'm not sure if this is arthritis now. I pressed around on her leg and it didn't bother her. It doesn't seem like a fracture if she was okay with me pressing on it. Whenever I had fractures, it hurt to press on it. Her paw looks okay too. Is there something I can do for her until the vet (on Wednesday)? Ice? Heat? Something else?
What is a safe hair gel for my dog
10 year old Boston Terrier with large fluid filled sac on left shoulder area. Diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma. on cyclophosphamide and piroxicam 3 months. Drain large fluid sac every 4 days. Refills quickly. Vet does not know why the fluid. What else to do? What about Turmeric?
Large saint bernard limping on right foot.. it appears a bit swollen at front of leg at joint closest to the paw... in the past my sister who was a vet tech and now deceased .. gave me advice for a now deceased boxer to.. they to limit their walking ice it and Nsaids and some sort of compression to the leg... my question is which Nsaid is safe and how much to give.. for 175 pounds.. how frequent do I give it.. and how often do I do ice or heat and for how many minutes at a time?.
