1. What does it mean when the doctor said a cat with ileus "is losing a lot of liquid into GIT"? 2. Will ileus cause metabolic acid-base issues due to this GIT liquid loss? 3. What will happen if the cat is put on nasal gastric tube to suction out the gastric contents? Will the suctions cause acid-base imbalance such as metabolic alkalosis? 4. So I am confused whether the ileus or the suctions impact more on the acid-base imbalance? 5. Can the alkalosis be rectified or it is deadly?

Vet prescribed restoralax (PG3350) to treat on going constipation issues, but didn’t say how long she should stay on it. Is is safe for long term useage? Aprox 1/4 tsp x2 mixed in watered down wet food. It’s helping so if it causes no harm I’m hoping she can stay on it long term.

Our bichon has TCC bladder cancer and we are not doing chemo since she is age 15. Her appetite is normal but has great difficulty in in deficating. What can we do to help her

Symptoms- dry heaving, dry nose, gargling stomach, temperature, low energy, rock hard stomach, coughing, hiccups, passing wind and gag reflex. This has been happening all day, it could possibly be intergestion. If this is the case would it be okay to give him abit of Gaviscon to settle the stomach? Or if not anything else I could do?

Is it best to give dulcolax pills or enema for a dog who is constipated. Went to the vet today. Took X-rays no obstruction just full of poop. Prescribed pain meds but nothing to go to the bathroom. Please help with any quick recommendations. I did just buy some dulcolax
