Customers say

Customers are divided on this chameleon kit. Many appreciate it as a convenient, easy-to-assemble starter option for beginners, though most who succeed supplement it immediately with upgraded lighting, misting systems, and live plants. However, a substantial group warns the included UVB lighting is dangerously insufficient and risks metabolic bone disease, the enclosure is too small, and climbing structures are inadequate. Reviewers emphasize that proper T5HO linear fixtures and live plants are essential but absent. Those unfamiliar with chameleon care report poor outcomes, while knowledgeable buyers find it workable only with significant additional investment. Overall, success depends heavily on buyer expertise and willingness to upgrade.

Not the best and worse the store steals

This cage isn’t for chameleons and the product is flimsy. Not really complaining about the product because you pay for what you get the more attention needs to be on the store itself. Very poor customer service went to return the reptile due to poor health, which, by the way all the reptiles had signs of illness, but went to return. Reptile told them we wanted an exchange because we could not take a return due to Bank circumstances employees need more training because they did a return and we will not be getting that money back due to a bank closure so they stole the money that was for the refund. Highly suggest New training and when calling to correct this matter, we were told sorry nothing they could do because the transaction had already been processed again. Need to get more training and better dealing with their procedures.

Can’t even use this kit for chameleons. It will kill them. They won’t even let you buy a chameleon from the store if all you have is this kit.

Horrible Kit

My sister was misinformed and got this kit, not fault of the workers it’s ours for not doing proper research, and it’s completely useless for a chameleon the more we look into it. Everything in that kit? We don’t even use, not even the cage is proper size for a chameleon. Save your money and buy it individually!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Don't put a chameleon in this!!!

The enclosure is all screen, chameleons can't survive in this unless your home is hot and humid like a rainforest. I was incredibly disappointed and frustrated when I got home with a juvenile chameleon and set this up just to discover I needed to scramble to put something different together for her asap. Chameleons need heat and humidity, there is no way to maintain either of those with this enclosure. Severely disappointed.

not for a chameleon

this habbitat shows that it is for a chameleon however the product is terrible. The open screen makes it impossible to keep the humidity level up. we learned this the hard way and we lost our chameleon in 3 weeks.

Ok. So my hubby bought this for my chameleon. To be honest, it's terrible! The bottom is unsecured, for one. For two, I'm personally against using fully screened enclosures because this thing is nearly impossible to keep the humidity and temperatures regulated!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 10 of 16 Questions

how many gallons is this enclosure?

Can any other type of lizard live in this set up? I'm thinking about getting some geckos and this is the size I want for them.

    1. Depends on humidity requirements.

Should I buy a bowl for my chameleon to eat insects from?

Would this work for a Crested gecko? It has the height, but it does say Chameleon and not crested. Im having troubles finding a tank for a crested and this looks like it might work.

*This is for the experienced chameleon owners* Would you recommend this type of cage to a beginner chameleon owner? If not can you give some recommendations on what cages are best for pet chameleons?

        1. If you are thinking about buying a chameleon cage, I would advise you to steer clear of this particular product. In my opinion, the cage is too small for any type of chameleon. Additionally, the fake vines that come with it are not sufficient for your chameleon's needs. They do not provide enough climbing opportunities or hiding places, which can lead to stress for your pet. But the biggest concern with this chameleon cage is the UVB light. It is of poor quality and does not emit enough UVB radiation for your chameleon. UVB radiation is essential for your chameleon's health, as it helps them produce vitamin D3 and absorb calcium. Without sufficient UVB radiation, your chameleon can develop serious health issues, such as metabolic bone disease. So, in summary, I would strongly recommend that you avoid buying this chameleon cage. Instead, invest in a larger cage with more natural foliage, taller, and a high-quality UVB light to ensure your chameleon stays healthy and happy. (CHAMELONACADEMY.COM FOR MORE INFO)

Is the bottom of the cage mesh too? I’m looking to getting this for a tree frog (and I’ll buy more accessories to go in it too) but if I put dirt in there will it fall out?

        1. The bottom is plastic, but not like a deep tray. If you want a layer of dirt all around the base you can get creative with duct tape to keep it from going through the mesh a couple inches up. Pond liner would work too if the soil needs moisture. It doesn't hold in humidity so keep that in mind depending on the needs of the froggie. It's awesome for my Chameleon :) but he doesn't need super high humidity all the time with misting.

Hello! Does this work for a Rudis chameleon that’s around 6 inches?

        1. No, absolutely not! Nothing in this kit is acceptable for chameleon care with the exception of calcium

I'm thinking about getting a panther chameleon. Would this cage be big enough to last throughout his whole life?

        1. Probably not they only live a few years and grow very fast I would suggest a veil

Hey, I’m considering purchasing a veiled chameleon and this habitat. I was wondering if crickets can get out of this enclosure, as I definitely don’t want those crawling around my house. Thanks!

        1. This cage is too small for a veiled cham. The uvb coil won't provide uvb at 4 inches. Need to replace with a t5ho fixture or Cham will get MBD. Get the reptibreeze xl tall

Is this enclosure suitable for a Veiled Chameleon? I've seen a few reviews saying that it's not.....

        1. The 16x16x30 is too small. Zoo Med makes a 24x24x48. It's big and will be a good space. The biggest challenge is getting enough plants and vines to create a nice habitat for the veiled. We ordered the medium and small "Bend-A-Branch (6' long) vines made by Flukers. These have worked well and are easy to shape. Also, the "kits" are an odd combination of accessories, as people mentioned, the suction cup attachments don't work on a mesh wall, I used fishing line to tie things to the screen. It's tedious, but a secure method to set-up the decor.  I agree with SMnot, the twin dome light is not that effective. Get a Zoo Med T5 HO fluorescent (tube style) or LED.
