I have 1 puppy, 4 wks old & about 5 lbs and have started gruel but I'm confused on how much milk replacement and dry dog food to mix and I can't find the answer anywhere. The amount of daily dog food would 1 1/4 cups, how much milk replacement do I add?
- When using PetLac for weaning, you will start by mixing at a 1:2 ratio and gradually reducing the amount of water until it becomes a gruel. This should be fed in a saucer/plate. You may choose to introduce puppy food on its own, or mixed with the formula. Please ensure there is also fresh water available at all times. How much do I feed each puppy? I have 8.
- Weighing puppies at the beginning and every 3 days will help to determine the amount that should be fed. Bottle fed puppies should be fed 1 teaspoon (5mL) per 4 ounces (115g) of body weight every 3-4 hours. Feeding amounts and frequency vary according to individual needs. Please follow the instructions on the label for detailed mixing and feeding instructions. Thank you!
