Customers say

Customers overwhelmingly praise this canister filter for its exceptional quiet operation and crystal-clear water delivery. Most highlight near-silent performance as the standout feature, with many noting dramatic water clarity improvements within hours of installation. Reviewers appreciate the customizable media options and straightforward setup, even for beginners. A few mention minor design concerns, such as flimsy hose clips and limited canister space for additional media, though these rarely deter overall satisfaction. Despite minor drawbacks, the vast majority recommend this filter unconditionally for superior filtration and peaceful aquarium operation.

Better hope you never need to replace it in a hurry. I guess its on me for assuming if a product didn't make it an entire year you could at least exchange it or get store credit (to buy a new one). Was told after 30 days its Fluval's problem. Kinda sucks when you're in a hurry to replace it so you don't lose your pets and you find out PetCo won't stand behind the products they sell. Ended up buying a 407 at their competitor, who will in fact let you exchange if there is an issue inside of a year. For what its worth, even pushing a 55g, it worked really well (until it didn't).

No, I do not recommend this product.

Horrible! I even paid to have a professional put it together for me and it doesn't suck any water at all.

Cheap Cheap Cheap

II just completed putting this together and regret every cent I paid. The tubing was cheap super thin plastic, the amount of tubing provided was barley sufficient, the over the tank mounts that hold the tubing were annoying and cheap, I couldn't connect this to my in-line UV filter, the out feed I thought was just stupid. I bought this to replace my Penn-Plax Cascade canister filters. I just placed an order for a new Cascade.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Works better as a paper weight then an actually filter. I have had a few fish tanks with different filters and set up. I have never had to mess with them as much as i have to with this one.

Gee how cheap parts can be in this price range. Be careful of breaking the intake strainer when putting it onto the tube. Also the clips to hold the hoses. Suction cups are worthless. Also I ended up breaking the red locking handle trying to close it. My fault but still so cheap. I know many like it but man give me a break. I bought a Oase 250 and will see how that goes tomorrow.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Fantastic Filter! Just set it up on my 29 Gallon Community fish planted tank. Replaced a old Fluval C3. Love all the media bays I can load up with Seachem Matrix and have plenty of mechanical filter media before it hit's the matrix! Super Quiet Motor head! Will be easy to clean with the way they have the shut off valves and lift out bays. After battling Amazon with there lies (unable to deliver 3 times!) I ordered online and my local Petco and picked it up! I am done with Amazon!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Amazing filter! I upgraded to this from a HOB for a 20 gallon and the water is CRYSTAL CLEAR, The clearest it's ever been. I transferred the bio media from the old filter to this one so I didn't disrupt the BB. 100% Recommended! The hardest part about the setup was the hosing really. other than that super easy!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 10 of 19 Questions

Does this come with the intake and return tubing?

  1. Yes, it comes with all the tubing you'll need

I was wondering if this would work well with a 29-gallon tank and if it is axolotl friendly. ty to anyone who can help answer my questions.

  1. Would be fine for a axolotl in 29 gal...setup is simple water flow adjustment is a breeze

Would this work well for a 30 gallon tank. I use it for two turtles. The tank is only filled a little less than half.

  1. Yes, it would work but it would be more than what is needed. However, as the turtles grow, you may want a larger tank and the filter would still be able to handle it.

I have a 40 long reek coral tank. Will this work good for my 40 long tank or do I go bigger

  1. I think you should go bigger. I use my Fluval 207 in a standard shape 20 gal and it works well but when the intake clogs or the filters get dirty I see a significant decrease in flow rate. Therefore, my thought is to always go with a much larger flow rate filter than is recommended for your tank.

Where can I buy the media?

  1. I make my own, buy filter socks then buy carbon, zeolite, peat pellets, puregen or what you like fill the filter socks water place inside a basket. Bio media like ceramic rings are widely available just was and fill a basket. You can also add more mechanical filter I like 200 micron polishing pad/cloth sheets cut the same and put in a basket. You'll save tons baking your own although often Petco online sales for fluval prebagged media is a awesome buy instore it will be 6 buy online pick up in store order for the same media will be like 2.

what size hose does 307 filter use I'm not a fan of ribed hoses?

  1. https://youtu.be/jTjBiEDijSg?si=EzGG6c2x51h4oCEv

Will this work on a 50 gallon fish tank?

  1. It says up to 45 gallon. I would go to next one up. Lm using it on 40 gallon. Great for it but it’s pretty small

Can this filter work with  sea horses and a 15 gal tank

  1. I'm not sure specifically speaking, but it does have flow rate adjustment... I have a tropical puffer and he enjoys the variation in the current. Great little filter.

Can this filter be use for bait shrimp ?

Can anyone tell me how this works against an ammonia content? I've done everything possible to get my numbers down and nothing helps.

    1. You might have too many fish. With that being said. if you are using artificial plants this may also be contributing. Plants take care of a great deal of waste. I have a 20gal tank with all real plants and about 15 cherry shrimp. And 12 other fish. I also clean my tank every other wk my nitrates are practically 0
