I purchased this for my cats even though it was listed as a dog bowl because of the thick base. My cats tend to play with their water and sometimes spill water by knocking the bowl around. The bowl has a nice round base that is stable, so that is a plus. I am disappointed that the bowl does not hold a lot of water and I have to refill it frequently, but I do have several cats. The bowl would likely be fine for a single cat or small dog.

I received this item for free in exchange for my honest review. This is a nice piece - it has a good weight to it plus a rubber ring on the bottom to help prevent sliding on the floor. I like that it's stainless so it should last a very long time, and I like that it doesn't have any nooks or crannies for food or grime to get stuck. It's dishwasher safe which is a big factor when I'm looking for dishes. Obviously it's not microwave safe, so keep that in mind if you regularly warm your pet's food. I can't remember if these come in various sizes but mine is perfect for a cat or very small dog. It might work for a puppy but it probably only holds 1 cup of wet food at the very, very most (and that amount would likely make a mess over the sides).

I got this to use as a water bowl for my cats. It was easy to wash and super shiny. Since it is stainless steel the bowl is very reflective and was very hard to get a decent picture of. The only thing that bugged me a little is that the bottom of the bowl seems to have a little glue residue from the skid-resistant part at the bottom, but it doesn't effect the functionality at all. The shape is a little awkward for water which I realized when I poured it from a little too high and it just bounced out the bowl, but as long as I pour it closer to the bowl it works well and holds a good amount of water for my cats. Overall it is a nice little bowl that is easy to wash and rinse every day so I am glad that I got it.

I had recently heard about “whisker fatigue” which can be caused by cats eating from bowls that were deeper, and didn’t want to inadvertently subject my cat to it even though he was not showing any signs of distress. Once I saw this bowl, I knew I would get it specifically because of it being shallow and stainless steel. Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like my cat has been more food driven since changing to this bowl. And for me, I always prefer stainless steel since it’s more hygienic compared to porous surfaces and is easy to clean.
