Description

Capstar (nitenpyram) is a fast-acting flea tablet for dogs and cats. A single dose of Capstar (nitenpyram) starts killing fleas within 30 minutes and achieves greater than 90% effectiveness against adult fleas within 4 hours for dogs and 6 hours for cats. This oral flea tablet treats flea infestations in dogs, puppies, cats and kittens 2 pounds of body weight or greater and 4 weeks of age or older. Capstar kills adult fleas that may cause flea allergy dermatitis. It is safe to give as often as once a day if your pet gets re-infested with fleas and can be given with or without food.

I truly believe in capstar I have used it on my cats and dog and it’s true. It works within 30 to 45 minutes the fleas die immediately. The only downfall is you have to give them one tablet every time you see fleas I usually do it around once a month. The only thing that really sucks. Is you only get six tablets in a box so I have three pets so my six tablets last two rounds sometimes I have to give them earlier but usually about every two weeks you have to kill the incoming fleas (eggs hatching)

I was having a very heavy infestation of fleas with my cats and dogs and did everything I could to stay away from the harmful poison of the past. Capstar seemed to do the trick because there seem to be no more fleas and no more scratching. I still have the remaining doses but have yet to give a second dose. That's great news!

This year has been especially bad for fleas. I have tried several things to rid the fleas. Bought this. While my cats fought me on it, it did work. They are finally getting some relief and I am able to use other things to help combat the problem.

How does it last after giving the pill to my Bengal cat ??

I think it only lasts a day. Maybe two. It just kills all the fleas on the animal, in about an hour or so, I believe. But the mfg. claims it an be given daily.

Can I use this with a topical flea treatment to prevent my cat from getting fleas?

This is good if your car has fleas - it will kill the ones on it now. You should use it in conjunction with a topical to prevent a continuing infestation. Personal preference when I needed to use it was to do the capstar then the topical the next day, to identify any reactions.

No, this just kills fleas on the animal for 24 hours. It doesn't prevent an infestation.

Yes, it can. I use it on my cats periodically even when they're using a topical. In my case it's usually Revolution.

Yes, I have done that with my cats and sprinkle it their food. I usually use wet can food when I crush it up so I know they ate the whole dose. I love this product. It works quickly with killing the adult fleas with one pill. It doesn’t kill eggs, but it does kill the adults so they don’t lay anymore eggs!
