My rabbit chews everything! How to stop destructive rabbit chewing?

Chewing is a natural and essential behavior for rabbits to keep their constantly growing teeth worn down. Ensure he has permanent access to good quality fresh hay and also rabbit safe chewing blocks such as timber from apple trees or commercial chew toys etc, a feed ball which drops pellets as he rolls it can be very helpful. It sounds as though Bright is becoming destructive because she is bored. I would recommend penning her into a room where she can be supervised. Cords should be out of reach or protected with plastic piping. I would invest in some rabbit safe toys. Treat balls are fun for them or toys with bells. You can also fill toilet paper tubes with hay to keep Bright preoccupied.

It is a natural behaviour, which we can try to redirect by giving her other options to chew on, such as timothy hay disguised inside cardboard tubes, commercial hay tunnels, or other types of bunny-safe toys where you can hide the hay in. I think you did the right thing. I would advise to block Boston's access to the wall. Paints can contain toxins which could harm him. Aside from blocking the area, offer him boxes and other places to hide/play in. Offer him rabbit friendly chews toys (a variety of them) to satisfy his desire to chew. You could also stop at the local pet store and ask about any spray/gel that you could put on the wall that taste bad. It may help to discourage the behavior. Hope this helps!

Rabbits can be quite mischievous! Eating paper in small amounts isn't going to be too problematic. The best thing you can do is limit the items that your rabbit has any access to, thereby preventing ingestion of harmful substances. It may be that Roxy doesn't have enough to chew on naturally to help keep her teeth healthy. Adding in additional toys to chew on, hay to munch on and making sure she has a balanced rabbit diet may all help to reduce or stop the behavior. If the issue continues even with increased enrichment, you see dental issues, or other health problems arise, having a vet take a look is always best.
