Why is my mini lop rabbit's tummy swollen, sneezing, and lethargic?

Hi and thank you for your question, Diarrhea is a serious problem in a rabbit and should be treated ASAP. Usually, in a mature rabbit true diarrhea is caused either by offering it food to high in carbohydrates or by treating it with antibiotics that are not safe for them. As to the sneezing, this could be caused by an upper respiratory infection but also by physical irritation (e.g. by dust in the air). I strongly suggest that you have Bunnicula examined by a vet. (P.S. There is nothing wrong with your English :) ).

Most of the signs you are describing could be compatible with an upper respiratory tract inflammation/infection or possibly to a rhinitis (inflammatory, allergic, infective). Bloat in rabbits is typically referred to as gastric stasis. This occurs when the GI tract stops functioning like it should and the stomach, and sometimes intestines, fill up with gas and undigested food. Rabbits will typically stop eating and pooping when this happens. This is a very dangerous condition for a rabbit because it is very painful and can cause death. If you suspect that your bunny is suffering from gastric stasis she needs to be seen by a vet to start treatment immediately. I hope this helps. Hi there, and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It's hard to tell from the pictures, but this little bun may have some cranial swelling going on. Hydrocaphalus, or swelling of the head, is not entirely uncommon in neonatal rabbits and can be life threatening. I strongly recommend getting this little bunny to a certified wildlife rehabilitator or a veterinarian as soon as possible, especially if she's shaking and is only able to lay on one side. This could be indicative of neurologic issues. In the meantime, keep her warm and quiet, and continue to feed her regularly. Good luck, and I hope that Loppy does well!

If your bunny has nasal discharge and sounds congested, he may have an upper respiratory infection that may improve with an antibiotic that is safe for rabbits such as baytril. If there is no nasal discharge/congestion, he may have an environmental allergy, possibly to the bedding/hay in his cage. A trial of a non shaving bedding such as Care fresh (a cotton bedding) may help. Good luck!

I doubt the hay is to blame, sneezing in rabbits 99% of the time is due to an upper respiratory infection also known as "Snuffles", this condition is very common in rabbits, it is treated with oral antibiotics for 3 weeks that you will need to get from your vet.
