My rabbit feels bony, is she underweight? What should I feed her?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

My friends rabbit( she's 4 or five years old I think) is pretty small and you can feel her spine when you pet her. Is this normal or is she under weight? And what foods are best for them? Thank you!!

You should not be able to feel the whole spine so it sounds to me like the bunny is underweight. She should be on a diet of mainly hay and some rabbit pellets. Occasional fresh fruits and veggies are good too. If she is eating well but still underweight I would recommend having her checked out at the vet. She may have an intestinal parasite or something else causing her to lose weight.
