My new rabbit is aggressive, chews wires. How do I introduce her?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | 5 lbs

So I am getting my friends female rabbit and it has a bad temper and behavior and I am going to get her spayed but she has chewed wires and bit, and that’s the reason why she has to re home her and I was wondering tips to help her to stop chewing wires and behaving more and also introduce her to my current male and female rabbit that I will be getting both of them fixed also

Thanks for reaching out about Cocoa. The first step is to have her spayed as hormones often lead to defensive measures. Sometimes these behaviors are ingrained and altering does not calm them down. Then it is training and winning trust.
All the animals should be altered prior to attempting to introduce.
As for chewing wire et al., providing them with materials they are allowed to chew (hay blocks, wicker animal approved toys, cardboard boxes), can distract. Painting wiring with vinegar or bitter apple (used to deter people from biting their fingernails) can work.
Good luck.
